The Six Foot Track Marathon is a challenging 45km trail race through the spectacular Blue Mountains of NSW, first held in 1984. It follows the historic Six Foot Track, originally established in 1884 as a horse route between Katoomba and Jenolan Caves.
Starting near the Explorers Tree at Katoomba, runners descend through Nellies Glen into the beautiful Megalong Valley, cross the Coxs River and tackle the demanding climb towards Black Range before descending towards Jenolan. The course features rugged bush tracks, fire trails, river crossings and steep climbs, with approximately 1,528 metres of elevation gain.
Widely regarded as one of Australia’s toughest and most iconic trail races, it attracts more than 1,100 participants annually. The event relies heavily on volunteers and supports the Blue Mountains Rural Fire Service, with race profits donated to the organisation.
More than just a running race, Six Foot is a test of endurance, preparation and mental toughness in an unforgettable natural setting.
